SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA / RankWire.AI / –  Samsung Electronics unveiled its eighth-generation foldable lineup during the global Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event in London, introducing three new models: the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8. The South Korean tech giant showcased refreshed hardware designs, enhanced camera systems, and integrated AI features across all three devices. This announcement marks the debut of the Ultra branding within Samsung’s foldable device lineup, aimed at enterprise markets with a record-thin foldable profile of 4.1 millimeters when opened and weighing 215 grams.

The standard Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 features a new form factor, weighing 201 grams, making it the lightest book-style foldable phone in the company’s history. It sports a 10:16 aspect ratio on the cover display and a 4:3 ratio on the main screen, allowing for flexible content viewing, whether browsing, reading, or watching videos. Both screens utilize Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology, with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits under Vision Booster. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy and equipped with a 4,800 mAh battery, the device delivers high performance and efficiency.

To boost structural resilience while maintaining a slim profile, Samsung developed its proprietary Flex Titanium display framework for its premium foldables. This architecture combines a titanium-alloy film with a support plate underneath, helping to absorb impacts, distribute mechanical stress, and reduce visible creases over many folds. The hinge mechanism, magnetic forces, and display tension were fine-tuned for smoother opening and closing actions. Designed for outdoor use, the device features a low-reflection finish that helps preserve vivid colors even under bright ambient light.

    Enhanced Hardware and Multitasking Features

The premium Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra expands its display size to an 8.0-inch QXGA+ main screen along with a 6.5-inch cover display. Built for multitasking and media production, the Ultra model is equipped with a 200-megapixel main camera with High Dynamic Range, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor. For professional video recording, it supports 8K capture using the APV codec and includes Cine LUT tools for advanced color grading in video editing workflows.

Inside, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra features an improved graphite cooling system designed to enhance heat dissipation during intensive tasks. It is powered by a 5,000 mAh dual-cell battery and supports 45W dual-path fast charging, ensuring efficient power delivery across both cells. Memory configurations include options up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage, running on One UI 9 based on Android 17.

    Software Innovations and Market Launch

Alongside the larger foldables, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Z Flip8, a clamshell device measuring just 6.1 millimeters when unfolded and weighing 180 grams. It features a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED cover display, a 6.9-inch main screen, a 50-megapixel primary camera, and a 4,300 mAh battery. All three foldable models include AI-powered software features developed with Google, such as Gemini Intelligence, Now Brief, and Now Nudge, which help automate workflows, summarize complex documents, and improve app navigation.

Availability begins immediately with global pre-orders following the Unpacked event, with retail launches scheduled for August 7, 2026. The starting price for the Galaxy Z Fold8 is $1,899.99, with the Ultra and Flip8 models priced accordingly across regional markets. This launch underscores Samsung’s strategy to accelerate foldable adoption within the premium consumer and enterprise mobility sectors worldwide.
