BERLIN, GERMANY / MENA Newswire / — H.H. The meeting brought together senior representatives from the UAE and Germany at a time when both governments are maintaining regular diplomatic exchanges on regional stability, trade, investment and security. Discussions covered friendship and cooperation between the UAE and Germany, with emphasis on strengthening coordination through official and parliamentary channels.

Sheikh Abdullah also met Bundestag Vice President Omid Nouripour and Armin Laschet, Chairman of the Bundestag Foreign Affairs Committee. The talks addressed current regional developments and the impact of attacks on civilian sites and facilities in the UAE, including their implications for maritime navigation, energy supplies and the global economy.

    Regional security reviewed

The UAE side briefed German officials on missile and drone attacks attributed to Iran that targeted civilian sites and facilities in the UAE. The discussions also addressed drone attacks launched from Iraqi territory, including an attack reported to have targeted the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant and struck an electricity generator outside the plant’s inner perimeter.

German officials expressed solidarity with the UAE and condemned the attacks, according to official accounts of the meeting. Sheikh Abdullah thanked Germany for its supportive position and affirmed the safety of residents and visitors in the UAE, while stressing the importance of international cooperation in addressing threats to civilian infrastructure and transport routes.

    Parliamentary ties emphasized

The meeting also highlighted the role of parliamentary institutions in advancing dialogue and supporting bilateral relations. Sheikh Abdullah said UAE-Germany ties are continuing to grow across sectors, and noted the importance of legislative engagement in promoting communication, mutual understanding and cooperation on regional and international peace and security.

The UAE delegation included Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister for Political Affairs, Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs, and Ahmed Waheeb Al Attar, UAE Ambassador to Germany. The Bundestag meeting formed part of Sheikh Abdullah’s wider Germany program, which also included discussions with senior German government officials.
